Can you guess where I am knitting?

Hi everyone,
Many of you may not know, but I have been away the past two weeks on a wonderful cruise.

Technology is so great. I set up the last two blogs you received before I went away. All Linda had to do was press a button and the blogs were sent to you.

Yes, I took my knitting with me and did get some done.
Below are some pictures of me with my knitting while on my adventure. Can you guess where I was in each picture?

Boxes of new yarns are arriving nearly every day. Yesterday we got in a Noro yarn called Iro. It is a chunky wool/silk yarn with typical bright Noro colours. Come in and pick up a chunky pattern and use this yarn to make a colour project.

Today I opened up a box to find the new Twilley Freedom Eco chunky yarn - an alpaca/wool in natural colours. There is an super pattern book to support this yarn.

There have been lots of other yarns that have come in that I have not had a chance to share with you. I will be sending you info and pictures on a regular bases to keep you up to date! I know that you will become really inspired by the selection of the yarns, fibres, weights and colours.

To make room for all these new yarns, I have put more yarns on SALE. Who can resist a SALE? Also how about treating yourself to one of our Knit Happy demin blouses or fleece sweatshirts that are also on SALE.

Hope you have a great long weekend! Be sure to find time to do some knitting!

Is this picture creative or what!?

Hi, here is a sweet little sweater we wanted to share it with you but did not have a model to wear it so...

The book the pattern was in just happened to have a cute little girl on the cover - so I put it behind the sweater to make it look like she is wearing it. I think that was rather creative - if I say so myself!

The book is by Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino 3. You will find over 14 patterns for babies and toddlers from newborn to 2 years for both girls and boys. There is also a beautiful blanket and knitted toys. We also have Baby Cashmerino 1 and Baby Cashmerino 2 which are also filled with adorable projects.

This sweater only took 3 balls of Baby Cashmerino. It was wonderful to knit with. The yarn is a blend of merino wool, micro fibre and cashmere. We have 9 fashionable colours for you to pick form. I am sure that all babies would love to have a sweater made from this very soft and easy care yarn.

On a 4mm needle - Baby Cashmerino works up as a Double knitting weight yarn - so you could even make yourself something!

PS. July and August - closed on Mondays.

New Gadgets

Knitters love gadgets of all kinds that enhance their knitting life.

How often have you wondered what size your knitting needles are because the size is worn off or you are using old needles which could be US Or UK sizing. This nifty needle gauge by Clover covers a wider range of sizes that most gauges. It goes from 2 mm to 15 mm! There is also a handy ruler along the bottom edge.

These extra small stitch markers come in a unique triangle shape. This allows the knitting needle tip to slip in easily when passing the markers from one needle to another. These stitch markers are ideal for sock knitters as they fit over needles form 2 mm to 3.5 mm and will not stretch your stitches as larger makers often do.

Highlighter tape - I love it! Just put this removable tape where you need it on your pattern. No need to write on your patterns again to keep track of where you are. Comes in blue and yellow.

Keep the Kids Busy!

Summer holidays are here and we have a great selection of "things" to keep the kids busy and you happy!

Take a close look at the picture and you will see a craft item that I am sure will bring back pleasant childhood memories. Did you find the corkers? There are 2 different ones. One looks like a bumblebee and the other looks like it is made of crystal. No more wooden spools and nails! There is also a fun book to teach kids what they can make with their corking.  There is also a corking kit which includes a corker, yarn, and directions - can you find it?

For those wishing to learn to knit  - check out the fun kids knitting needles. One kind is pink with happy faces on the ends and the other has one red needle and one blue needle with little cat faces on the ends.

There are several knitting books geared for kids. They each are a bit different because as we know - no two kids are alike.

Did you see the Knifty Knitter? That is a great name because that is exactly what it is - it is nifty, easy to use, and you end of knitting "something".

All the kids need now is some yarn in their favourite colour. As you know, we have rooms of yarn for them to pick from.

Now is the time to bring back childhood memories and pass on the tradition by teaching someone special to cork or to knit.

Please note that we will be
CLOSED this Saturday - JULY 10th!

Have a safe and fun summer. Remember to take your knitting and crocheting with you!

At the shop, the air conditioning is on and the sofa is comfy, so feel free to drop in for a visit with your knitting or crocheting.
If you need a new project, we will be more than happy to help you select "something" special to create.
