We need your HELP!

We need your HELP!

Believe it or not, because so many of our wonderful customers and friends are knitting blanket squares for Let's Blanket Halton, we have run out of donated yarn. This ongoing program depends on your donated and recyled yarn. Unfortunately I have had to turn knitters away as we do not have any yarn to give them.

Please check your stashes - I know you have stashes! - and bring in all the knitting worsted weight yarn that you can spare. You can bring in other weights of yarn also and we will make sure it all gets to a good home.

Check with your friends, neighbours and co-workers. I am sure that they have stashes also.

This is a recent picture of lots of knitted squares just waiting to be put together.

A special thanks to all of you who have donated yarn, made squares and/or put the blankets together.

Looking forward to seeing you when you bring in some "stash" yarn for Let's Blanket Halton.

What is NEW?    Lots!    Especially books!

Books for wraps, socks, babies, children, adults, blankets, "learn to" and many other excitng knitting and crocheting books.

The book on the right makes your crocheting look like knitting!

The book above contains an array of lovely wraps for everyone.

You will find the shelves in the hall are lined with many other new books.

Be sure to check our blog regularly to see all that is new in the knitting world!

Our Sock Monkey has a name!

Our Sock Monkey has a name! She will now be officially known as SOCKETTA! Isn't that a super name for a sock monkey who is knitting a sock! Marietta suggested it - thanks Marietta. Hope you will drop by soon for your prize!  Interesting isn't it - the similarity of Marietta's name and our mascot's new name!

We received lots of great names. Thanks to all of you who entered our contest. It was fun!

If you look closely at SOCKETTA - you will notice that she has had cosmetic (knitting) surgery. Her face has been re-aligned, her neck has had a "tuck" or two, her ears have been straightened and her personal surgeon (knitter) has toned the muscles (removed some stuffing) in her upper arms, so she would look more lady-like! I wish it was as easy for us to have cosmetic surgery!

PS. How about you make your very own sock monkey or one for someone special. We have the pattern which includes 10 different sock monkeys - both knit and crochet - plus lots of colours of yarn for you to pick from. Everyone loves and needs a sock monkey!

I will share pictures of our customer's sock monkeys as they bring them in for a visit!

On March 6th, I sent you a picture of a plant in my living room with a few pink flowers on it. I sent it then because I figured that was likely all the flowers it was going to have. Surprise - take a look at it now. It is absolutely beautiful. It is covered with a couple of hundred bright pink flowers with more opening up every day. Unfortunately it does not have any perfume to go along with the wonderful blooms. It obviously likes my living room window. It is supposed to go outside again once the weather gets nice but I just might have to keep it in the house.

Have fun knitting and crocheting!

Jammies

This cute pattern will definitely make you think of "Spring". I am sure that you know of a cute "little one" who you would just love to knit these jammies for. This pattern called Jammies and is designed by Chris from KnittingAtKnoon. Its wide range of sizes from 3 months to 24 months makes it a very useful pattern. It also includes a sweet knitted puppy called PJ Puppy.

Knit it up quickly for cool spring and summer evenings or knit it now and put away for a Christmas present.

Chris is the designer of the Take Me To Your Leader Aliens who recently visited the shop. Also the Snobuddy family of snowmen, the Safari Friends - elephant, giraffe, lion and zebra and the Prehistoric Friends - 4 friendly dinosaurs. She has also designed the Leisure Arts book called A Collection of Characters - 4 knitted toys (pig, duck, mouse and puppy) along with matching blankets.

We have all of her patterns in stock for you to check out when you come in to say hi!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to all of you. I hope you enjoy our fun picture of our Easter basket filled with yarn ball eggs and a cute little sheep.

At this time of year, we often think of new "things" such as plants popping up through the soil, buds on trees, birds returning and singing, wearing lighter weight and brighter coloured clothing and much more.

Spring is a great time of year for new "things" in your knitting and crocheting world also. Hopefully by looking at our new patterns and starting a new knitting or crocheting project - you will really be in the"spring" mood. A summer top, baby outfit, light weight summer socks -  all pop to mind.

Our shop looks like spring with all the wonderful colours in every room. This picture of our cozy front room is calling out to you to visit, explore and begin "something" new.
