Happy Canada Day

Both Linda, myself and Socketta - would like to wish you a Happy Canada Day. It is hard to believe how fast the days are flying by - where has June gone! Sure hope you will be able to find time to do some knitting or crocheting during the long weekend.

Even though summer is just beginning (flowers are from my garden) we just got in the new Fall Berroco pattern books - lots of great patterns. Some new Fall Berroco yarns have arrived also.

You can also catch up with the last knitting and crocheting projects by picking up the Summer issues of Knitter's Magazine and Interweave Crochet.

Remember that we are closed on Mondays for July and August.

The other day I mentioned that I had visited another supplier. I did ordered some super new yarns just for you. They arrived in the shop very quickly. As a result,I would love to share them with you.
Here are some pictures of them. The computer does not do them justice - so you will just have to come in and see and feel for yourself.

New baby yarn called Cupcake by Peter Pan
-  softer than soft
-  pastel colours
- your favourite baby will love it!

I did it again!

Yes, I did it again. I went yarn shopping at another suppliers. You just try walking around a warehouse full of beautiful fibers and not buying anything!  It cannot be done!

The new yarns will not be here for awhile but when they do and you see them - I hope you will be as excited  about them as I am.

There will be
 - a new baby yarn - the softest ever in delicious colours - there is a hint here about this yarns name
 - a new sock yarn made with an unique fiber
 - another new sock yarn in beautiful bright colours that pattern as you knit
 - a new fashion (novelty) yarn with a unique texture

Gosh, I am sure that there is another new yarn. I guess I will remember when the cartons arrive and I look inside!

I will be sending out pictures of our new yarns as they arrive. It is fun to tease you!

Here is another picture from our Knit in Public Day of two of our knitters sitting and knitting  outside between the rain showers.

Hope you have a great weekend and don't forget to do some knitting!

We had fun!

Everyone had fun on Saturday at our second Knit in Public Day. Linda and I set up everything outside, people began to arrive and so did the rain! As a result, we had a super day inside - a bit cozy, but no one seemed to mind.
We knit, crocheted, laughed, played silly games, had refreshments and much more.
There was a draw for a beautiful plate and bowl donated by Carolyn Filter (our yarn bowl potter), previously loved pocket books (many with a knitting theme) were for sale for a very cheap price and there was a silent auction for a discontinued baby book.
As a result, $113.00 was raised and will be divided between the Georgetown Food Band and Friends of Halton Hills Library.
Natalie brought her spinning wheel and drop spindle and it was interesting to watch her talents.
The ladies also brought lots of food bank donations and yarn for our community knitting projects.
Special draws for knitting related items were held every hour and everyone went home with a "prize"!
When the weather cleared, we went outside and came back inside when it rained - kind of like musical chair! One young girl, Kathryn, who attended last year, came back again this year. Her knitting has really improved and she spent the day knitting on circular needles for the first time. Two other little girls showed up with their Mummy's and their knitting. It was great to see them trying to knit and having fun at the same time.

Thanks to everyone who attended. It was lots of fun for everyone!

Look what we got!

Our friendly sales rep. Denis was here recently. He always brings lots of extra yarn with him. Depending on what I order, he leaves new yarns with me - instant yarn!! Here is a top down view of the yarn on the front table so you can see what he left. It looks much nice in real life!

The yarn is now all around the shop - in yarn bins, hanging on the walls and in baskets. I will give you more info about each of them in the future or just come in to find out about them yourself. Here are a few hints about them - rovings for thrumming, new sock yarn colours, dk yarn like one of our sock yarn but thicker (dk) and a "felted" chunky for "something" warm.

Just to tease you - there is "something" really different "in the air"  in the yarn world and it will be approaching earth "whenever"!! It has been ordered but who knows when it will "land"! Bet you are curious!!

See you on Saturday for World Wide Knit In Public Day!
It will be lots of fun and there are great prizes!
