Where is Diane?

I just returned from a wonderful week holiday in ????.
Of course I took my knitting with me.
Below are some "where is Diane"?? pictures.
See if you can guess.
I will tell you at the end of this post.

Knitting beside a very old ruins - wonder if they knitted!

Knitting in an unusual place

Did not see any knitting but lots of other wonderful crafts

Shocked look as I just dropped my knitting in the pool

the only "yarn" store I saw

I was lucky enough to go to Panama with some long time girl friends and some new girl friends. We went on a bus tour which was wonderful. Saw lots - including toucans and macaws out side our hotel window, cruising through the Panama Canal. Also ate too much, and did lots of laughing.

Picture #1 - besides of the ruins of building from old Panama City built around 1600
Picture #2 - on the ferry cruising through the Panama Canal - wow is it big and busy
Picture #3 - outside a house in a native village in the rain forests
Picture #4 -  in the pool with my wet knitting at the hotel in the rain forest
Picture #5 - yarn bins in a grocery store in Panama City

I have all my pictures on my computer at the shop. If you would like to see them - be sure to drop in - I would love to share them with you.

UPDATE!!!
Lots and lots of the ruffling yarns have arrived. There is a great selection of new colours!

Have fun knitting and crocheting, Diane

Baby Cocoon

Sharon, one of our customers, just finished crocheting this darling "cocoon" for her new granddaughter-to-be. What a lucky baby!

Knitting and crocheting for babies is so much fun. The patterns are adorable and choice of yarn colours is unbelievable - pastels, brights, self patterning and more. I am sure that you must have a baby or baby-to-be that you would love to make a special keepsake for. Whenever I knit something for some one - I always tell them that each stitch was made with love. I am sure that you would agree.

The baby books shown are full of lots and lots of projects for your favourite baby. The top two books are a collection of Leisure Arts most popular baby blanket patterns. In the other book you will find blankets, booties, hats, sweaters, playtime pals, wash clothes and a hooded blanket/towel. What more could you ask for?

In the front room of the shop you will find a "wall of baby yarn" and a super selection of baby and toddler patterns. Hope you will drop in soon to say hi and to check all the "baby" stuff out.

Is it a bowl, or a ????

Can you guess what this strange knitted object is?

Is it a bowl?

Is it a flying saucer?

This the finished strange knitted object!!
No, it is not either of those items.

It is a Pinwheel blanket knit using Berroco Vintage KW.
Many of you have already used this yarn and you know how wonderfully soft it is.
The pattern is in a super new book called knitalong.
This book has 20 interesting patterns.
The name of the book suggests that you get together with a group of friends and knit
- which is always fun to do
- but it is also great to find a cozy corner and knit while you contemplate "things".

Remember to keep knitting - it is good for you!

Blogiversary!!

Can you guess what Blogiversary means?

Blogiversary is a noun and means the annual recognition of another completed year of blog posts.
No, I did not make that up.
This definition was found in one of our knitting books called Brave New Knits.

So Happy 1st Blogiversary to Georgetown Yarn Knits!

I has been one year since I challenged myself to be a "blogger"!
I have received lots of compliments on our blog. Thanks so much for making me feel good about doing it.
I enjoy sharing the shop with you each week.
Even when I was away on holidays this past summer - I set it up so that all Linda had to do was click the mouse and the posts were emailed to you.

I promised myself that if I did a blog I would keep it up to date - and I am so happy that I have been able to keep my promise. In the past year you have been lucky enough to receive over 65 blog posts!!
Some weeks, so much N"EWE"comes in that I could do a post almost every day - but it does take time to take the pictures, write the post, etc.
Mind you, I can do these things much quicker than I could a year ago.
It has certainly been a learning experience for me - just ask my husband Bob about me and computers!
I have learned that if you put the pictures in first, they "usually" go where you want them.
I was so glad when they added a "spell check" option.
I have learned how to play with font size, colours, formatting, etc.
I am so proud of myself!!
As you all know, I am a knitter - not a computer person!

I will keep "blogging" and hopefully you will keep reading and telling others about our blog.
I would welcome any comments about about the articles, ways to improve our blog, what you would like to see, etc. - either in the comment section on the blog or when you visit in the shop.

Hope to see you soon.
Happy Knitting, Crocheting and Blog reading from Diane
